After working in the private sector, Lyse Ricard joined the Office of Auditor General in 1981 and worked in both the Ottawa and Montreal offices. She then worked at Regional Industrial Expansion Canada in Montreal. Back in Ottawa, she assumed the posts of Senior Policy Officer at Transport Canada and then Program Manager at Secretary of State Canada.
Within the Public Works and Government Services Canada, she occupied the position of Director, Financial Management, and then was appointed Director General, Finance and Administration, at the Public Service Commission.
In 1998, Ms. Ricard joined Citizenship and Immigration Canada as Director General, Finance and Administration, until she was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Centralized Services Delivery and Corporate Services and later was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations.
Before joining the Canada Revenue Agency, Lyse Ricard was Assistant Auditor General at the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. She was appointed as Assistant Commissioner, Compliance Programs at Canada Revenue Agency in May 2007 and Deputy Commissioner in 2009.
In 2009, she was appointed Director, Board of Directors, Université du Québec en Outaouais and she is the Chair of the Audit Committee.
She was appointed on April 5, 2012 as Interim Senate Ethics Officer by the Governor in Council. On October 5, 2012, she was appointed as Senate Ethics Officer by the Governor in Council.
Ms. Ricard holds a B.A.A. (Honours) in Business Administration from the Université du Québec en Outaouais where she also earned a diploma in Business Information Technology. She is a Chartered Accountant. She is also a graduate of the Career Assignment Program. In 2006, she was elected to Fellowship (F) of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec, that organization's highest designation.
