Policing

Policing in Canada has been and continues to be an important aspect of a safer and more secure society. The work of police officers and civilians in conjunction with our community members will help build a stronger society for the future of this country. The nature of policing has changed over the past thirty years, as has the face of the communities for which we police. The importance of understanding our communities can be found from within these communities and it is with this collaborative approach that Sir Robert Peel stated "the police are the people and the people are the police" in his clearly articulated principles.
