Senator Angus and the Environment.

It is an indisputable fact that our climate is changing.  In Canada there are already signs of a change in climate, including melting permafrost in the North, declining water levels in our lakes and rivers and extreme droughts, floods and ice storms.

The average Canadian produces over five tonnes of Greenhouse Gases, which accounts for roughly 28% of Canada's total Greenhouse Gases.

Canadians should try to reduce their Greenhouse Gases by driving less, recycling and composting more, paying attention to the energy they consume and doing their part to reduce climate change.

Senator Angus knows that composting kitchen waste such as fruits, vegetables, tea bags and coffee grounds, as well as leaf and yard waste, a small family of three can reduce Greenhouse Gases by more than one eighth of a tonne each year!

For every extra kilogram of fine paper he recycles, he is producing four fewer kilograms of Greenhouse Gases.
