The Guaranteed Income Supplement in Federal Budget
January 24, 2005
Senator Downe sent a letter to the Prime Minister calling on him to increase the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) in the upcoming federal budget.
Senator Downe stressed the value of the program saying “the GIS ensures seniors a minimum standard of living and well-being.”
Asking for a significant monetary increase in the GIS benefit, Senator Downe stated that, “an increase would further aid low income seniors in Canada and allow them to live more comfortably with better access to the services they require.” |
