Senator Downe Tables Written Questions in the Senate
April 13, 2006
On April 5, 2006, Charlottetown Senator Percy Downe tabled seven Written Questions on the Senate Order Paper.
The questions seek answers from the Federal Government on a number of issues including, the decentralization of government departments, agencies and Crown corporations from Ottawa to the regions of Canada and the number of eligible seniors in Prince Edward Island who are not currently receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). These questions were generated by ongoing policy work Senator Downe is pursuing.
Other questions related to Government decisions such as why the new Federal building in Charlottetown was named the Jean Canfield Building and why Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed his campaign manager to the Privy Council, were asked on behalf of interested Islanders.
Senator Downe will relay answers to the public once they are received.
A complete list of the Written Questions can be found on Senator Downe’s website, at www.sen.parl.gc.ca/pdowne, under the link “Communications”. |
