Ms. Maria Barrados, President
Public Service Commission
L'Esplanade Laurier, West Tower
300 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa, ON K1A 0M7
Dear Ms. Barrados:
As you are aware, in December 2008 the Public Service Commission was studying new regulations to give spouses of Canada’s military, reservists, RCMP and bureaucrats who are killed in duty preference in job applications for Federal Government placements.
I believe that this is an important policy change that will assist families who have made significant sacrifices for Canada, and in turn, the public service will benefit from the contributions these individuals will make to our federal departments and agencies.
Would you please provide me with an update on how the Public Service Commission intends to proceed on the implementation of these measures, as well as any additional information on when the regulations will come into force and how the procedures will be put into place?
Sincerely,
Percy E. Downe
